Four decades of growth.

ISSB is Founded

A small group of Muslim families in Sarasota begin holding Friday prayers together — the seed of what would become ISSB.

1980s
1988

First Masjid Building

ISSB acquires its first dedicated building on Lockwood Ridge Road, establishing a permanent home for the community.

Sunday School Opens

The Islamic Sunday School launches, offering Quran, Islamic studies, and Arabic to the children of our community.

1995
2005

Major Expansion

A significant expansion doubles prayer capacity and adds classrooms, a full kitchen, and a dedicated Sisters' section.

Nur Academy Established

ISSB launches Nur Academy, a full-time Islamic K–5 school serving the Muslim families of Sarasota County.

2018

Community Food Pantry

The ISSB Food Pantry launches, now serving 200+ families monthly — regardless of faith background.

A Thriving Institution

500+ families, 5 daily prayers, a full Islamic school, youth programs, and active outreach across Southwest Florida.
